Step 1: Install Jamcast Server

Install Jamcast Server, making sure to share the correct folder where your music files reside. When the installation completes, the Jamcast Server will be started and ready to use.

For a detailed information about installing Jamcast, see the Installation Guide.

Step 2: Configure Your Router and Firewall

It is possible this step is not necessary. To find out, open Jamcast Server Manager and select the Network/Remote Access tab. Wait for the Remote Access test to complete -- if successful you can continue to Step 3.

If your PC is connected to a router, you must configure your router to forward port 58642 to the PC where Jamcast Server is installed. It is also essential to make sure your PC is set to have a static IP address. For more information, please see Port Forwarding and Remote Access.

If your PC is running a firewall or other internet security suite, it may be necessary to tell it to allow inbound internet connections to Jamcast (on port 58642). Consult your firewall or security software's user manual for more information.

When you've made the necessary configurations, open Jamcast Server Manager again and select the Network/Remote Access tab. Click Test (if necessary) and verify that the Remote Access test now completes successfully.

Step 3: Install Jamcast Player for Android

It is recommended that you enable the wifi connection on your Android device before connecting for the first time. This will tell Jamcast Server to trust your device in the future when connected via 3G/4G.

Download and install Jamcast for Android to your Android device, either via the Android Market or our Downloads page. Follow the first-time setup wizard. When complete, you should be connected to your music library and ready to enjoy!

Common Setup Issues

Remote Access Test Fails

This test can fail for a few different reasons: 1) Your router is not forwarding internet traffic to Jamcast correctly.

2) A firewall or other internet security product is blocking inbound connections to Jamcast Server.

Jamcast Player Doesn't See My Jamcast Server

Make sure the Remote Access test completes successfully, and that you're logged into the Internet Discovery Service using the same username and password you provided during the installation of Jamcast Server.
