Jamcast

I'm trying to stream Spotify from my laptop to my Yamaha RX-V671 receiver. I'm on a laptop running Windows XP and have selected Stereo Mix as my recording device. The receiver sees Jamcast and play's MP3's off the laptop no problem. When I select Virtual Soundcard all I get is static. If I change the recording device to line in on the laptop the static goes away but all I get is silence.
