Hi,
I successfully built the Spotify plugin and I am able to stream my Spotify playlists to a Philips NP2900 renderer and some players (Windows Media Player, XMBC). But my favourite player JRiver Media Center (latest version) doesn't seem to see the Spotify lists. However, I'm able to push the streams from DLNA controllers like Windows Media Player, PlugPlayer, MediaConnect. MC is able to stream and import the links and display the metadata.
How are the lists exposed? Any idea how I can import the lists in JRiver?
Thanks!

Hi Sheugel,
Great to hear you are having success on so many different devices.
I took some time earlier to check out JRiver Media Center 17.0.147. Their software loads the Jamcast library at startup by executing search commands against Jamcast. It asks for all music, video, and pictures.
The problem lies in the fact that Jamcast doesn't index anything for search except local media. Podcasts and all other plugins content is not returned in search.
If you think about the Spotify plugin specifically, all of the lists (metadata) are generated on the fly as you make requests. Search indexes are built in advance, so not a good match with something like the Spotify plugin where the amount of metadata is vast and constantly changing in the background anyhow.
Unless there's some other way to interact with Jamcast from JRiver, I'm afraid this is probably not going to work.
Did the JRiver folks give you any insight into this issue?
Thanks!
Scott

Thanks for your quick answer!
I got in touch with the JRiver team through their board.
They propose that you contact them and offer you a license!:

Hi Sheugel,
I did eventually speak with the guys over at JRiver...
Unfortunately to accommodate this requirement, one or both parties would have to make big changes to the way their software works. The are significant consequences for either side to move in that direction, not saying it is impossible or won't ever happen... but too much to grapple with at the time being.
Hope you understand.
Thanks!

Oh, that's unfortunate...
Anyway, I can still enjoy my Spotify playlists directly on my Philips NP2900 which I hadn't dreamt I could do before, and possibly with other software players.
I really must thank you for keeping me informed and for your support!

You're welcome!
Check out foobar2000 with the foo_upnp plugin and Columns UI plugins, there's actually a blog post about this from way back:

Works just fine with Jamcast in every way, including the Spotify plugin.
Thanks!
