I thought WD TV Live was the go-to network music player, but then I saw a thread on these forums that it doesn't work with Virtual Soundcard.
I am trying Cambridge Audio NP30, and having issues. It works as HTTP stream using FLAC and I think MP3, but not wav or LPCM. Does not play via the DLNA interface. I have to configure it as an internet radio station.
Do people have any recommendations for reliable and highly compatible DLNA media renderers (DMRs)?

OK so I tested a few hardware DLNA renderers for compatibility with Jamcast's Virtual Soundcard feature:
Cambridge Audio Sonata NP30 network music player: does not work (can be hacked to work as internet radio station in FLAC and MP3, but not LPCM or WAV).
Grace Digital Wi-Fi / Ethernet Radio Tuner GDI-IRDT200: does not work
Harman Kardon A/V receiver AVR 2650: Works (LPCM; I don't remember if I tested MP3)

Does anyone know whether the
Roberts Stream 205
works with Jamcast?
I have
BubbleUPnP
on my Android phone, which seems a good way to achieve remote control of music playback... certainly works with my Windows 7 PCs, with Windows Media Player serving and rendering, as well as with Jamcast.
So my question is two-fold:
1. Does the Roberts Stream 205 allow that kind of remote control for UPnP rendering in general?
2. Does it work with Jamcast?
